Veteran Nollywood actress Tina Mbah has urged her colleagues not to abandon their acting careers for marriage, sharing candid advice from her own experience. Speaking on the latest episode of Lights, Camara – It’s My Turn, the mother of two warned actors to watch out for partners who may later demand they quit their profession.
“He met you as an actor, married you as an actor—there should be no sudden ultimatums,” Mbah stated. “If someone tells you to ‘sit down’ after marriage, the signs were always there. Don’t ignore them.” She advised colleagues to have frank discussions before marriage and even jokingly suggested signing an “undertaking” to protect their careers.
Mbah, who balanced marriage and acting successfully, emphasized: “Marriage is important, but no one forced you into it. If it doesn’t work, another will. Find a supportive soulmate—don’t chase the dazzles, be an antique babe like me.”
Her remarks highlight the ongoing struggle many actors face in reconciling personal and professional life in Nollywood.
