Pan-Yoruba group Afenifere has identified foreign interference as a key driver of Nigeria's worsening insecurity, citing evidence linking Malian elements to recent attacks.

In a hard-hitting statement by spokesman Jare Ajayi, the organization listed 12 root causes including:


  • Porous borders enabling weapon smuggling

  • Complicit politicians and illegal miners

  • Uneducated northern youth recruitment by terrorists

Citing Defense Chief Gen. Christopher Musa and Benue Governor Alia, Afenifere warned that terror groups now exploit Nigeria's 30,000+ unemployed northern youths.
