Nigerian music star Asake has reportedly agreed to buy a house for his father, Fatai Odunsi, following a viral video where the ailing man accused the singer of neglect.
Odunsi, also known as Malo, who suffered a stroke and has been struggling with medical bills, publicly pleaded for help, urging Nigerians to ask Asake to support him. However, in a new interview with digital creator Mrlilgaga, Odunsi expressed gratitude, confirming that Asake has reached out and promised to handle his medical bills, buy him a house, and take care of his daughter.
“He has said they should look for a house that he will buy for me, and they have been searching since yesterday. He has started doing it,” Odunsi said in Yoruba.
Meanwhile, Asake’s alleged baby mama, Adijat, has also accused the singer of abandoning their daughter, Zeenat. This has fueled further controversy, with many Nigerians criticizing the “Lonely at the Top” crooner for not being supportive of his family despite his success.
Odunsi admitted he was initially upset with Asake due to their long separation but confirmed they have now reconciled.
“We have settled everything. There is no fight anymore,” he assured, offering prayers for his son.
The controversy erupted after a viral video surfaced on Friday, showing Odunsi lamenting that he had not seen Asake since 2022 despite his deteriorating health. The video triggered widespread backlash, with Lagos residents and netizens criticizing the singer for allegedly neglecting his father.
Now that Asake has responded to the situation, many are watching to see if he will also address Adijat’s claims of neglect.
