Walz unfolded with surprising civility despite tackling some of the most divisive issues in American politics.

The contenders exchanged views on migration, abortion, and the escalating crisis in the Middle East, focusing heavily on their respective party leaders, Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.

Vance, a staunch supporter of Trump, defended the former president's record, while Walz launched fierce criticism, accusing Trump of destabilizing the nation and jeopardizing democracy.

Walz also addressed the January 6th Capitol riots, linking them to Trump’s rhetoric.

When pressed on his stance regarding Trump’s 2020 election claims, Vance dodged the question, earning a sharp rebuke from Walz, who called it a “damning non-answer.”

One of the most intense exchanges centered around abortion rights.

Vance criticized Democrats for their “extreme” stance on abortion laws, while Walz emphasized his “pro-women” position, highlighting the ongoing battle for reproductive rights since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.

The debate also saw sparks fly over immigration policy, with Vance criticizing the current administration for what he called a failed approach to border control.

Walz hit back, accusing Vance of spreading false narratives about migrants to stoke fear.

As the debate wrapped up, both candidates took positions on the recent Iran missile attacks on Israel, with Vance defending Trump's foreign policy decisions, including the withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal, while Walz called for stronger diplomacy.
