Iran Escalates Tensions with Missile Strike on Israel in Retaliation for Hezbollah, Hamas Leaders' Deaths

Iran attacks Israel, Middle East tensions, missile strike Tel Aviv, Israel retaliation, Hezbollah and Hamas deaths, Iran-Israel conflict, military bases targeted, IRGC statement

Iran has launched multiple missile strikes targeting Israel, marking the second major attack in recent months.

This escalation comes in retaliation for the killings of top leaders from Hezbollah and Hamas, both backed by Iran.

According to Iranian state media, the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) claimed responsibility, stating the attack was in response to the deaths of Hezbollah's Hassan Nasrallah and Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh. Nasrallah was killed last week, while Haniyeh’s death occurred earlier this year.

"In retaliation for the martyrdom of our resistance leaders, including Ismail Haniyeh, Hassan Nasrallah, and IRGC commander Abbas Nilforoushan, we targeted key military positions within Israel," the IRGC said in a statement.

The missile barrage reportedly targeted three military bases near Tel Aviv, with Iran claiming that 80% of the missiles hit their targets. Israeli officials countered this claim, stating that a significant number of missiles were intercepted by their defense systems.

Despite the successful defense, the strikes caused widespread alarm, sending Israeli citizens rushing to bomb shelters. Tensions in the region remain high as both nations exchange threats of further military action.
