Episode 3: Behind Closed Doors

The second day of school began just like any other.

I skipped breakfast at home. After what happened yesterday, I wasn’t going to eat there until Dad and the maids apologized to me.

Instead, I stopped by a small café near the school to grab something to eat before heading to class.

"Are you in a good or bad mood today?" Camille asked as we walked toward the school entrance.

"Both," I replied with a small smirk.

History class was first on the schedule, and it’s my favorite. Everyone knows I’m the best in the subject, but even that’s not enough to impress my dad.

When literature class came around, I skipped it—again.

There's something about the new teacher that unsettles me.

He’s intimidating in a way that I can’t quite explain.

Later that evening, I was lying on my bed, listening to music when there was a knock at my door.

“Come in,” I called, and my dad walked in, his expression serious.

"Gemma, we need to talk," he said sternly as he folded his arms across his chest.

"Okay," I answered, sitting up.

His face told me I was about to get a lecture.

"You skipped literature class again today, didn’t you?" he asked.

I hesitated, trying to figure out if I should lie or tell the truth. "Of course, I went," I said, hoping to bluff my way out.

"So, your teacher’s lying then?" he asked, his voice rising slightly.

I groaned internally. "Listen, Dad, I don’t like him.

The new teacher... he’s just too much."

My dad shook his head. "Gemma, I’ve tried everything for you, but you’re still acting like a kid.

When will you realize life isn’t a fairytale? You can’t keep running from challenges!"

"Please stop," I interrupted, rubbing my temples. "I really don’t need a lecture right now."

"You will be grounded if you skip literature class tomorrow," he warned. "And I’ll freeze your account and take your car keys."

“What? No, you can’t do that to me!” I protested.

“Watch me,” he said before leaving the room.

I screamed into my pillow, frustrated and overwhelmed. After a few minutes, I got up and looked in the mirror.

I needed a distraction.

I opened my closet and pulled out a new outfit I had just bought—a light pink jumpsuit paired with black stilettos.

I grabbed my makeup bag and decided to pamper myself. Makeup was my go-to when I needed a break from reality.

After finishing, I glanced at my reflection and smiled.

"So hot!" I whispered to myself as I admired my look in the mirror.

I decided to take a few selfies before heading downstairs.

"Hey," I called one of the maids as I made my way outside.

"Take a picture of me," I said, handing her my phone with a warning to be careful with it.

I posed beside my car, snapped a few pictures, and reviewed them. "Perfect!" I smiled.

The maid gave me a shy nod before I went back inside.

I posted the pictures on social media, knowing my followers would be thrilled to see I hadn’t disappeared.

And just like that, the day that had started off rough seemed a little better.
