A tragic tanker explosion has claimed 48 lives in Niger State after a head-on collision between a petrol tanker and a truck carrying travelers and cattle. 

The incident, which occurred along the Lapai-Agaie road in Agaie Local Government Area, resulted in a mass burial for the victims as they were burned beyond recognition. 


The accident, which happened in the early hours of September 8, also saw the death of over 50 cattle, with the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA) conducting rescue operations at the scene.
