A devastating fire broke out at the Oranyan market in Ibadan, Oyo State, destroying over 40 shops and causing significant losses for local business owners. The blaze, which began in the herbal section of the market, resulted in the destruction of goods worth millions of naira, although no lives were lost.

Victims of the fire, including Fatimoh Adebimpe, Kafaya Lucky, and Kehinde Moronfade, expressed their shock and confusion, as the cause of the fire remains unknown.
Adebimpe, the market youth leader, stated, "We are not connected to the national grid, and no one was cooking in the market. This fire is a complete mystery."
According to Yemi Akinyinka, General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Services, the fire emergency was reported at 11:25 p.m., and the team was able to save properties worth billions of naira, despite the extensive damage to the affected shops.
