NDLEA Intercepts 380 Military-Grade Bullets on Abuja-Kaduna Highway

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted 380 rounds of military-grade ammunition along the Abuja-Kaduna Highway and apprehended a married couple found in possession of more than 1.2 tons of high-potency cannabis.

The security breakthroughs were confirmed in an official statement issued on Sunday, May 31, 2026, by the agency's Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi.

According to the dispatch, tactical officers on highway patrol at the Jere axis stopped a 30-year-old suspect, Sunusi Musa, who was actively transporting 380 rounds of RLA 7.62mm live military ammunition to Katsina State.

The suspect and the weapon exhibits have been promptly transferred to appropriate security formations for further tactical profiling.

In a parallel enforcement drive within Kaduna State, anti-narcotics agents executed a targeted raid on a residential property in the Gonin Gora area.

The operation led to the arrest of a couple, Musa Sunday and Mercy Sunday, alongside an accomplice identified as 38-year-old Salomi Ezekiel, following the recovery of 100 jumbo bags of compressed Skunk weighing a staggering 1,246 kilograms.

Babafemi further disclosed that the multi-state sweeps yielded significant seizures in Niger State, where 457 kilograms of illicit cannabis were retrieved from a Gidan Kukah warehouse, and in Enugu State, where operatives on the Onitsha-Enugu Expressway intercepted a Taraba-bound commercial vehicle carrying 22,000 tramadol pills, 100 ampoules of pentazocine, and 200 grams of bromazepam. NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (Rtd), highly commended the commands for their aggressive supply-reduction enforcement.
