A deep rift has emerged between the family of the late Major General Abubakar Rabe (rtd) and the Katsina State Government regarding the true medical cause of the senior officer's tragic demise in captivity.
In an exclusive international broadcast interview with *Deutsche Welle* on Sunday, June 14, 2026, the late General’s son, Isyaka Rabe, openly rejected and discredited the official death report released by the State Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs.
The state had asserted that the military veteran died from severe complications of pre-existing diabetes and chronic hypertension; however, Isyaka insisted his father had absolutely no diagnostic history of either medical condition prior to his violent abduction on May 30, 2026.
According to the grieving family, alternative and more sinister factors likely caused the tragedy inside the insurgent hideout.

"I truly don’t believe it was diabetes. In our view, it was a heart attack," Isyaka Rabe declared during the radio segment. "If you look at it, his legs were restrained. Moreover, some people said that he was walking, and he didn’t die, so God knows, since only God is the knower... When I announced the time for my father’s funeral prayer, many people began asking how the body was recovered. I told them I did not know and that they should direct such questions to the government."
