Prominent political commentator Imran Wakili has claimed that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar may face an uphill task recovering from the severe political damage allegedly caused by the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal.
In a scathing analysis shared on the social media platform X, Wakili argued that Lawal's recent controversial actions and subsequent resignation had systematically dismantled the party's structure, triggering a mass exodus of influential political stakeholders and leaving the political platform virtually hollowed out ahead of future electoral cycles.
Wakili explicitly pointed out that high-profile figures from Adamawa State and the wider northeastern political landscape have abandoned the party, pointing direct blame at the former SGF.
He listed former Adamawa State Governor Muhammad Umar Jibrilla (Bindow), Senator Elisha Abbo, Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed (Binani), and Abdul-Azeez Nyako as key heavyweights who have vanished from the party's ranks.
According to Wakili, this internal collapse has isolated Atiku within the ADC ecosystem, severely complicating his structural alignment for the 2027 presidential race.
"The damage Babachir did to Atiku and ADC—there is no coming back from it! BINDOW is GONE, nobody is left in ADC except Atiku himself," Imran Wakili wrote on X. "Bindow gone, why? Babachir. Abbo gone, why? Babachir. Binani gone, why? Babachir. Nyako gone, why? Babachir."
This public assessment follows Babachir Lawal's high-profile resignation from the African Democratic Congress just last month.
In his exit statement, the former SGF had launched heavy accusations against the ADC, claiming he could no longer remain within an organization that was structurally operating as a "rigging machine" ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Lawal also directed heavy criticism toward Atiku Abubakar and his close political allies, alleging that they were tunnel-visioned on narrow ethnic and religious agendas—a factor he argued would ultimately clear the path for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to seamlessly secure a second term in office.
