The race for the 2027 Presidency has officially kicked off as James Faleke, the lawmaker representing Ikeja Federal Constituency, picked up the All Progressives Congress (APC) Expression of Interest and Nomination forms on behalf of President Bola Tinubu.
As reported by Punch Newspapers, the APC National Organising Secretary, Suleiman Argungu, formally declared the process open on Tuesday in Abuja.
He presented the forms to Faleke, who is the founder of the Tinubu Support Groups (TSG).
The collection of these forms, valued at N100 million, serves as the first formal signal of President Tinubu’s bid for a second term.
This move aligns with the timeline recently released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
According to the INEC schedule, the Presidential and National Assembly elections are set for Saturday, January 16, 2027.
Party primaries are expected to take place between April 23, 2026, and May 30, 2026. Furthermore, official campaigns for the presidency will legally commence on August 19, 2026.
