NDLEA Intercepts UK-Bound Cocaine in Food Flasks; Arrests Multiple Suspects Across Nigeria
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has recorded a string of successful operations, intercepting 2.80 kilograms of cocaine concealed in the false bottoms of food flasks at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos.
The illicit consignment was destined for the United Kingdom.
Spokesman Femi Babafemi confirmed the arrest of cargo agents Ama Obinna Ufeim and Ogabi Monday Akorede, as well as the sender, a 52-year-old freight forwarder, Agoro Tajudeen Moninuola.
In a separate airport operation, the agency seized 2.90 kilograms of "Loud" (a potent cannabis strain) hidden in snack packs arriving from the United States.
National Enforcement Highlights:
Kaduna: Operatives intercepted 847kg of skunk hidden in a cement-laden trailer along the Kaduna-Zaria highway.
Cross River: A joint operation destroyed 15,000kg of skunk cultivated on a six-hectare forest farm.
Lagos Island: A raid on a two-storey building yielded 95.8kg of skunk.
Badagry Expressway: Two suspects were arrested with 11,900 capsules of tramadol and phenobarbital injections bound for Ghana.
NDLEA Chairman Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd) commended the officers for balancing their "War Against Drug Abuse" (WADA) sensitization efforts with high-impact enforcement.
