Bravery in Uromi: Police and Local Hunters Rescue 70-Year-Old Victim from Kidnappers' Den


The Edo State Police Command has successfully rescued Pa Jonah Owobu, a 70-year-old man who was abducted from his farm in Uromi on April 21, 2026. 


The kidnappers had contacted the family shortly after the abduction, demanding a ₦30 million ransom for his release.

A joint tactical team—consisting of police operatives, military personnel, local hunters, and the Edo State Security Corps—tracked the suspects into the forest after recovering the victim's abandoned motorcycle. 


Upon sighting the advancing security forces, the kidnappers fled, leaving Pa Owobu behind unhurt. 


Commissioner of Police Monday Agbonika praised the swift coordination and urged residents to continue providing timely information to combat the kidnapping menace in the state.
