Victor Osimhen Injury Update: Galatasaray Striker Confirms Surgery After Liverpool Clash

Victor Osimhen wearing a cast on his fractured arm after Galatasaray vs Liverpool match

Galatasaray and Super Eagles fans are bracing for a period without their star man, as Victor Osimhen has officially confirmed he will undergo surgery on a fractured right forearm.

The 27-year-old striker sustained the injury during a high-stakes UEFA Champions League encounter against Liverpool at Anfield last Wednesday.

Despite the pain, Osimhen played through the first half before being substituted at the break when the severity of the blow became apparent.

According to reports from Punch Sports Extra, the Nigerian international arrived in Istanbul on Sunday night for a definitive medical evaluation.

Speaking via a social media livestream, Osimhen revealed that the procedure is necessary to properly reset the bone.

"I need to go under the knife... it will take a maximum of five to six weeks before I am back," he stated, offering a more optimistic timeline than the initial fears of a five-month absence.

The injury is a significant blow for Galatasaray, who currently lead the Turkish Super Lig by four points.

Osimhen has been in sensational form this season, netting 19 goals and providing seven assists.

While he will miss upcoming international friendlies against Jordan and Iran, his focus is now on a swift rehabilitation to help his club secure domestic silverware.
