Manchester City Defeat Arsenal 2-0 to Lift 2026 Carabao Cup at Wembley

Manchester City have secured their first trophy of the 2025/2026 season after a commanding 2-0 victory over Arsenal in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley Stadium.

The win provides a much-needed morale boost for Pep Guardiola’s side, coming just days after their painful exit from the UEFA Champions League at the hands of Real Madrid.

For Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, the defeat marks the end of their ambitious pursuit of a historic quadruple.

The first half was a tactical stalemate, with both Premier League giants sizing each other up in front of a packed London crowd.

However, the deadlock was broken shortly after the interval following a significant error by Arsenal goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

A fumbled ball allowed City’s rising star, Nico O’Reilly, to react quickest and head into an empty net.

O’Reilly soon doubled the lead with a second clinical header, effectively sealing the title for the Citizens.

Despite this domestic cup success, Manchester City still face a steep mountain to climb in the league, where they currently trail table-toppers Arsenal by nine points.
