The Lagos Bus Services Limited (LBSL) has taken swift legal action against two of its bus captains caught in a fuel siphoning scandal.
The drivers were arraigned before the Lagos Mobile Court on March 12, 2026, following an investigation triggered by a video recorded by a vigilant citizen.
The Managing Director and CEO of LBSL, Mr. Idowu Oguntona, confirmed that the incident took place on March 10. Following the report, the suspects were quickly identified, apprehended, and handed over to security agencies.
"We strongly condemn any act that compromises the trust reposed in our workforce and the resources entrusted to us by the government and the people of Lagos State," Oguntona stated via a release from spokesperson Afolabi Olawale.
The suspects have been remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Facility as they await their next hearing on April 22. LBSL has emphasized a zero-tolerance policy for fraud, theft, and gross misconduct, urging the public to continue reporting such activities to safeguard the state's transportation infrastructure.
The agency credited the successful apprehension to the "public vigilance" of the concerned citizen who filmed the act, noting that accountability remains the firm's top priority.
