Tragedy as Delta Teenager Visiting Friend is Shot Dead by Suspected Cultists in Ikotun, Lagos
A teenager identified as Chike, popularly known as “Ejanla,” has been brutally murdered by suspected cultists in the Ikotun area of Lagos State.
The victim, who reportedly traveled from Asaba, Delta State, to visit a friend, was attacked on Sunday while returning from a Point-of-Sale (POS) outlet where he had gone to withdraw cash.
According to eyewitness accounts and reports from an anti-cultism advocacy platform, Chike was accosted by a group of armed youths.
Despite allegedly offering the assailants his newly withdrawn cash and gold jewelry in a bid to save his life, the gunmen opened fire at close range.
An eyewitness, Abiodun, told Punch Metro that the attackers fled the scene immediately after the shooting, leaving the teenager in a pool of blood.
“He offered them his gold and the cash he had just withdrawn, but they still shot him and fled,” a source revealed. The attackers reportedly shouted “Haba-Krier” before and after the execution, a signature often linked to specific cult groups.
The incident has sparked fresh fears over the resurgence of cult-related violence in suburban Lagos communities.
While the victim's friend was spared during the attack, the cold-blooded nature of the killing has left residents in shock.
Efforts to reach the Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, for an official statement were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
