The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has announced plans to deport an additional 18 Nigerians listed on its “worst-of-the-worst” criminal register, bringing the total number of Nigerians scheduled for removal to 97.
This follows an exclusive PUNCH Metro report last week that 79 Nigerians convicted of various offenses had been marked for deportation. A check of the DHS website on Monday confirmed 18 new names had been added.
Wire fraud, mail fraud, and identity theft were among the most common offenses cited for the newly listed individuals. An accompanying statement on the DHS website said the arrests are part of an ongoing nationwide crackdown on criminal immigrants.
“Under Secretary Noem’s leadership, the hardworking men and women of DHS and ICE are fulfilling President Trump’s promise and carrying out mass deportations, starting with the worst of the worst, including the illegal aliens you see here,” the statement read.
The newly listed Nigerians include Oluwaseyanu Akinola Afolabi, Olugbeminiyi Aderibigbe, Benjamin Ifebajo, Obinwanne Okeke, Kolawole Aminu, and others such as Franklin Ibeabuchi and Joshua Ineh.
The updated figures underscore the Trump administration’s continued tough stance on illegal and criminal immigrants, with Nigerians prominently featured in this latest enforcement wave. The DHS initiative targets non-citizens convicted of serious crimes for prioritized removal from the United States.
