A 40-year-old landlady, Nafisat Lateef, has been arrested by the Ondo State Police Command for allegedly forcing a poisonous liquid substance into the mouth of her tenant's three-year-old son.
The incident occurred on February 5, 2026, in the Omifon community of Odigbo Local Government Area. According to Police Spokesperson DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the act followed a dispute between the suspect and the victim's mother, Rofiyat, 32.
The toddler, Abdulrasheed, began vomiting continuously after ingesting the substance and was rushed to a hospital, where he is currently receiving medical attention.
Jimoh stated that detectives from the Odigbo Police Division acted swiftly when the mother reported the incident. “Police detectives, during a swift and intelligence-led operation, arrested the suspect. In the course of the investigation, the detectives also recovered the liquid substance.”
The PPRO confirmed that the suspect is in custody and has been making "useful confessional statements." The case will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
