Biden Demands Fair Probes into Deaths of Alex Pretti and Renee Good in Minneapolis

Former US President Joe Biden X post statement condemning Minneapolis killings Alex Pretti Renee Good

Former United States President Joe Biden has condemned the killings of two American citizens in Minneapolis, calling for "full, fair, and transparent investigations" into their deaths. In a statement posted on his official X account on Tuesday, Biden decried the violence amid an ongoing immigration crackdown by the Trump administration.

“What has unfolded in Minneapolis this past month betrays our most basic values as Americans,” Biden wrote. He emphasized that the nation should not tolerate its citizens being gunned down or brutalized for exercising their constitutional rights.

The former president praised the resilience of Minnesota residents, stating, “The people of Minnesota have stood strong — helping community members in unimaginable circumstances, speaking out against injustice when they see it, and holding our government accountable to the people.”

Biden warned against the abuse of presidential power, asserting, “No single person can destroy what America stands for and believes in, not even a President, if we — all of America — stand up and speak out.” He extended condolences to the families of the victims, Alex Pretti and Renee Good, both 37, who were fatally shot by federal agents in separate incidents.

The statement follows mounting criticism of the administration's tactics, with video footage reportedly contradicting official accounts of the shootings. Former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama also condemned the killings over the weekend, calling them a “wake-up call.”
