Burna Boy is my number one collaboration choice — Ayra Starr Reveals

Ayra Starr Billboard interview Burna Boy collaboration choice Grammy nominee

Award-winning Nigerian singer Ayra Starr has revealed that Grammy-winning superstar Burna Boy is her ultimate dream collaborator. The revelation came during an interview with Love Island USA star Chelley Bissainthe for Billboard, discussing her nomination for the 2026 Grammy Awards.

Starr, who earned a nomination for Best African Music Performance for her hit 'Gimme Dat' with Wizkid, described the recognition as a moment of reassurance. “I am very grateful that I’m actually a two-time Grammy nominee. The first time I got nominated, it was like oh my God, I got nominated. But the second time I was like maybe I need to trust God and myself a bit more,” she said.

When asked about future collaborations, the 'Rush' crooner was unequivocal. “I have collaborated with many people, and I still want to collaborate with more people. But everyone knows Burna Boy is like my number one person I want to collaborate with,” she stated.

The singer's second Grammy nomination, announced in November 2025, is for the 2026 ceremony scheduled for February 1. The acknowledgment solidifies her position as one of Afrobeats' leading voices on the global stage.

Her expressed desire to work with Burna Boy—a fellow Nigerian icon and African Giant—has excited fans, who are now eagerly anticipating a potential musical fusion between the two distinct yet powerful acts.
