Adamawa police display recovered AK-47 rifle brother killing case Gombi arrest suspect

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 40-year-old man, Abubakar Sadiq, for the alleged murder of his elder brother, Alhaji Sadiq Boga, in Gombi Local Government Area. According to a statement by the command's spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, the suspect was arrested following credible intelligence in collaboration with professional hunters.

The crime occurred on January 20, 2026, in Boga Village. During interrogation, Abubakar Sadiq confessed to the killing and implicated five other accomplices. He subsequently led police operatives to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle and 24 rounds of live ammunition allegedly used in the crime.

The suspect also identified two of his alleged accomplices: Jalo Hamiyu (35) and Umar Baba (41), both residents of Fotta Village. A joint team of police, hunters, and Civilian Joint Task Force members later raided the suspects' hideout.

“Upon sighting police operatives, they opened fire to scare the operatives and escape arrest, which led to a gun duel that resulted in the neutralisation of the two suspects,” the police statement read. Additional weapons, including a locally made single-barrel rifle and a Dane gun, were recovered at the scene.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, commended the operatives' gallantry and reassured residents of the command's commitment to protecting lives and property. Efforts are ongoing to arrest the remaining fleeing members of the criminal network, and the suspect will be charged in court upon completion of the investigation.
