The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has said that nobody in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has the power to expel him. He explained that he has been part of the party since it was formed and has contributed to its growth over the years.
According to Channels News on Sunday 7 December, 2025, Wike made the statement during a meeting with members of the party’s Board of Trustees and National Executive Council. The meeting was held under the leadership of the Acting National Chairman, Abdulrahman Mohammed. Wike was reacting to an expulsion notice allegedly issued by a faction linked to the governors of Bauchi and Oyo States, Bala Mohammed and Seyi Makinde.
Wike said he would not allow people who joined the party long after him to push him aside. He added that the PDP has always welcomed new members, but that should not give anyone the right to fight those who helped build the party.
He urged party stakeholders to stay strong and remain united. He also claimed that people who do not mean well for the PDP would eventually leave on their own.
Several top members of the party attended the meeting, including former Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, former deputy speaker Uche Nwuche, and members of the Board of Trustees from different states.
In his remarks, the BoT Chairman, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, encouraged members to work together and avoid unnecessary division. He said efforts were ongoing to set up caretaker committees in states where congresses have not yet been conducted.
The meeting ended with a call for unity as party leaders continue efforts to strengthen the PDP ahead of future activities.
