A Facebook user, Abdulazeez Akintola, confirmed the devastating news in a post shared on his page, recounting how the little girl went missing while her mother was performing prayers during a visit to a friend who had recently given birth.

“Her mother, Hafsat, who lives in the Gbeganu area, had gone to her family house in Soje B due to illness. While visiting a friend who had just put to bed, Hafsat left little Saudat playing in the compound as she prayed. Sadly, by the time she finished praying, the girl had disappeared,” Akintola narrated.

He added that despite immediate efforts by family members, neighbours, and local authorities, including reports made to Prestige FM Minna and the nearest police station, all attempts to trace the child failed until her body was later found.

“Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un. With deep sorrow, we announce that little Saudat has been found lifeless inside a soakaway pit. No one can truly explain how it happened, but Allah knows best,” Akintola wrote.

The tragic event has once again raised concerns about child safety and open drainage or soakaway covers in residential areas, with many Nigerians urging authorities to enforce safety regulations to prevent similar occurrences.
