President Bola Tinubu has approved the reconstitution of the boards of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF), both operating under the Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Idris Olorunnimbe was named Chairman of the NCC board, while Dr Aminu Wada will continue as Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer — a role he has held since October 2023 after Senate confirmation in November.
Olorunnimbe, who previously served on the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund Board as Stakeholder and Governance Committee Chair, will now lead the telecom regulatory agency alongside new board members including Abraham Oshidami (Executive Commissioner, Technical Services), Rimini Makama (Executive Commissioner, Stakeholder Management), Hajia Maryam Bayi, Col Abdulwahab Lawal (retd.), Senator Lekan Mustafa, Chris Okorie, and Princess Oforitsenere Emiko.

For the USPF board, Minister Bosun Tijani will serve as Chairman, with Olorunnimbe as Vice Chairman. Other members include Oshidami, Makama, Aliyu Edogi Aliyu (FMCIDE representative), Joseph B. Faluyi (Finance Ministry), Auwal Mohammed (Budget and National Planning Ministry), Uzoma Dozie, Peter Bankole, Abayomi Anthony Okanlawon, and Gafar Oluwasegun Quadri.
The Presidency highlighted that the USPF plays a vital role in ensuring access to information and communication technologies in rural, unserved, and underserved areas, aligning with Nigeria’s broader digital inclusion agenda.
