According to a statement by the command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, on Tuesday, Owolabi was intercepted on Monday, August 11, 2025, while riding a motorcycle along the Ijebu Ode/Ibadan Expressway at Refugees Camp Junction, Oru Ijebu.
“During a routine stop-and-search operation by Mobile Police officers from 71 PMF Awa Ijebu, Owolabi was stopped, and a search of his luggage led to the shocking discovery of three human skulls,” Odutola revealed.
A preliminary investigation reportedly linked the crime to 53-year-old Yisa, who was arrested behind the Ijebu Ode Local Government Secretariat. Police believe both men are connected to an unlawful possession case involving the human remains.
The Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to take over the case for further discreet investigations. “We remain committed to decisive action against crime and urge residents to cooperate with the command. We assure the public of trust, confidentiality, and protection of their identity,” Ogunlowo stated.
