A devastating fire has gutted the head office of Fresh FM Nigeria in Ibadan, Oyo State, causing massive destruction to the popular radio station owned by gospel musician Dr. Yinka Ayefele.

In a statement issued on Friday night, the spokesperson of Fresh FM Nigeria and Yinka Ayefele Limited, Samson Akindele, confirmed that the inferno broke out around 7:30 pm at the Music House, located in the Challenge area of Ibadan.
“We are sad to inform the general public that the Head Office of Fresh FM Nigeria, Challenge – Ibadan, was razed by a devastating fire incident this evening, August 15, 2025,” Akindele said.
The Music House, a sprawling complex that houses Ayefele’s businesses — including the Merry Makers Band, Tiwantiwa Radio, Blast FM, and Fresh FM 105.9 — was badly damaged, with studios and offices destroyed. The incident disrupted live transmission and forced staff and residents nearby into panic.
According to Akindele, “The studios of Fresh 105.9 and Blast 98.3 were badly burnt, along with proximal offices like the newsroom, the transmitter/server room, and several equipment that got razed during active operations.”

He revealed that staff made desperate efforts to contain the blaze using in-house extinguishers, but their attempts failed due to the intensity of the fire. Firefighters from the Oyo State Fire Service later arrived and joined passersby and neighbors in battling the flames.
The cause of the fire remains unknown, and the full extent of the damage is yet to be assessed. However, the management expressed gratitude to first responders and members of the public for their swift intervention.
The incident is a major setback for Fresh FM, which is one of Nigeria’s most influential private radio stations, known for its music, talk shows, and community engagement.
