Minister of Youth Development, Ayoade Olawande, announced the launch on Monday, June 16, 2025, describing it as a turning point in national development.

“This is more than a conference—it is a generational movement, a call to action for Nigerian youth,” he stated.

Originally announced by President Bola Tinubu during his October 1, 2024 Independence Day broadcast, the Youth Confab aims to provide a platform for young Nigerians across the country and in the diaspora to express their views, contribute policy ideas, and influence national direction.

A planning committee was inaugurated on March 10, 2025. Themed “Next Gen Nigeria: Crafting Solutions, Owning the Future,” the conference will emphasize inclusivity, non-partisanship, and youth-led discussions.

Registration through the newly launched portal allows delegates to receive real-time updates and contribute to the discourse.

The conference will be conducted in stages: consultations across all 360 federal constituencies, regional zonal meetings in six states, diaspora engagement, and a final national summit in Abuja.

Rinsola Abiola, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Citizenship and Leadership, affirmed that the delegation would feature gender parity and include persons with disabilities.

The confab is expected to serve as a crucial outlet for young Nigerians to air their frustrations and propose tangible policy solutions.
