A horrifying case of betrayal has rocked Edo State as a 56-year-old farmer, Henry Oyagbomwan, was allegedly murdered by his farm workers and buried in a shallow grave following a pineapple deal worth ₦900,000.

According to multiple reports, the tragic event occurred on May 13 in Igueze village, located in the Ovia North-East LGA of Edo. Oyagbomwan had reportedly sold a large quantity of pineapple produce and received ₦900,000 in cash, which allegedly sparked the greed-fueled crime.
Police sources confirmed that the five workers conspired to kill their employer and fled with the money. After committing the crime, the suspects reportedly contacted the victim’s family, demanding a ransom of ₦60 million, even though the farmer had already been killed.
When the family hesitated, they reduced the ransom to ₦300,000, which was paid. The workers then vanished.
The police anti-kidnapping unit launched an intensive investigation and tracked one of the suspects, Bassey Uyong Umeh, to a remote creek in Akwa Ibom State.

Upon his arrest, Umeh confessed and led authorities to the burial site, where Oyagbomwan’s decomposing body was recovered.
Confirming the incident, police spokesperson Moses Yamu said, “The investigation is ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects. Justice will be served.”
