The Kaduna State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a well-known online agitator, Comrade Mustapha Abubakar, popularly known as Dan Saudia, during a drug raid in the Rigasa area of Igabi Local Government Area.
In a statement released on Tuesday by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, the arrest took place on Sunday, June 23, during a coordinated police operation targeting criminal black spots in the region.
According to the statement, Dan Saudia, who is notorious for publishing inciteful content on social media platforms, was apprehended while actively smoking and in possession of what is believed to be a substantial quantity of Indian hemp.
“The command wishes to inform the public of the arrest of one Comrade Mustapha Abubakar, popularly known as Dan Saudia, a self-acclaimed social commentator. He is notorious for making inciteful and misleading comments on social media platforms with the intent to disrupt public peace and security,” DSP Hassan said.
The arrest marks a significant move by the police to crack down on digital incitement and criminal activities in Kaduna. The suspect is currently in custody, and police say he will be charged in court as soon as investigations are concluded.
The arrest has sparked online discussions, especially among social media users in northern Nigeria, many of whom have followed Dan Saudia’s commentary for years. Law enforcement agencies urge the public to be cautious about the content they consume and share online, particularly when it poses a threat to public order.
