Tension is rising as 15 students and their school director have been reported missing after embarking on a trip from Onitsha, Anambra State to Imo State to sit for their JAMB examination.
According to reports from Gistreel, the group, consisting of students from Saint Charles Academy, left Onitsha early Friday for their exam center in Imo but became unreachable for over 24 hours. Concerned parents and relatives have raised alarms as all calls to the school director’s phone remain unanswered.
One of the parents, who spoke anonymously, said: “We have no idea what’s going on. We’ve reported to the police and still have no word about their safety or whereabouts. This is terrifying.”
This incident comes amid growing concerns over the security of students during national examinations, especially in volatile regions. Many online users have called for urgent intervention by security agencies, while some others expressed frustration over the need for students to travel long distances just to write standardized exams.
As of the time of this report, no official statement has been made by either the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) or the Nigerian Police. Families of the missing students continue to wait anxiously for updates.
