Kidnappers Collect N5m Ransom + Food Items Before Releasing Delta Victim – Fulani Herdsmen Suspected

Kidnappers collect N5m ransom and food items before releasing Delta victim

Kidnappers, suspected to be armed Fulani herdsmen, have released a Delta State victim, Mr. Azubuike Bright, after collecting a N5 million ransom and food items from his family.

According to reports, Bright was abducted on Friday night at Iteogwe, Ibusa, in Oshimili North LGA, while buying food.

The abductors initially demanded N50 million but later settled for N5 million after negotiations. Human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu confirmed the release in a statement, revealing that the kidnappers were Fulani men hiding in the bush. “They threatened to kill him if the ransom wasn’t paid,” Gwamnishu said.

The incident highlights the growing kidnapping crisis in Delta State, where armed herdsmen disguise themselves to carry out abductions. The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, was unavailable for comment at press time.
