In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, three Nigerian nationals were arrested in Libya for their involvement in the illicit trade of narcotics.

According to Libyan authorities, the suspects were apprehended during a joint operation by the Libyan Anti-Drug Squad and the local police, who had been tracking their activities for several months.

The three individuals, whose identities have not been disclosed, were found to be in possession of a large quantity of narcotics, which were allegedly destined for markets in Europe.

The arrest came after a series of intelligence reports linked the Nigerians to a network operating within the region, smuggling drugs through Libyan ports.

The authorities have confirmed that they are continuing their investigation to identify other members of the trafficking syndicate and expand their efforts to tackle this growing issue.

The Libyan government has expressed its commitment to combating the drug trade, which is seen as a major threat to national security and public health.

The three suspects are currently being held in custody while legal proceedings are underway. This arrest highlights the ongoing challenges facing authorities in Libya as they try to stem the tide of international drug trafficking and organized crime.
