Justice for Mohbad: One Year Later, Fans Demand Answers Over His Tragic Death

A year after Mohbad's mysterious death, fans demand justice during a protest in Lagos as investigation delays fuel public frustration.

Fans of Nigerian street-hop star Mohbad gathered outside the Chief Magistrate’s Court in Ikorodu, Lagos, to call for justice one year after his sudden and controversial death. 

The peaceful protest, led by Yoruba actor Yomi Fabiyi, comes amidst ongoing coroner’s inquest into the circumstances surrounding his death.

Mohbad, real name Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, passed away under mysterious circumstances on September 12, 2023, and was swiftly buried. 

His body was exhumed for a post-mortem following widespread outrage from fans and the public, who questioned the speed of his burial and possible foul play.

Videos and pictures of alleged assaults by his former record label associates emerged online, sparking even more controversy.

Naira Marley, founder of Marlian Records, and his associate Sam Larry faced intense public scrutiny and cyberbullying, with fans pointing fingers at them over Mohbad’s death.

Investigations into the case have continued, but delays in receiving autopsy results from the United States have frustrated the public.

Mohbad’s mother, Mrs. Abosede Aloba, has called on the public to keep praying for her son, pleading for calm and for authorities to release his remains to the family for final burial rites.

The singer, known for hits like "Peace" and "Ko Por Ke (KPK)," left Marlian Records in 2022 to start his own label, Imolenization.
