The Nigerian Government, through the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB), has addressed calls to ban a film featuring actress Nancy Isime in a controversial niqab scene. The film, still in production, has not yet been classified.
The NFVCB clarified that they are engaging with the producers to address concerns, emphasizing their commitment to balancing freedom of expression with cultural and religious sensitivities.
“We will not overlook films that undermine religious, cultural, or ethnic values,” the NFVCB stated, reaffirming their role in promoting positive societal transformation through film classification.
