Aliko Dangote Urges African Countries to Ease Visa Restrictions for Intra-Continental Trade

Billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote advocates for African countries to adopt liberalised integration and support easy entry and exit of Africans to foster trade and investment opportunities within the continent. 

Speaking at the 30th Afreximbank Annual Meetings in Accra, Ghana, Dangote emphasized the importance of visa on arrival to facilitate trade and enhance economic growth. 

Highlighting the need to remove barriers, he shared instances where Africans face difficulties in obtaining visas compared to foreign nationals. 

In alignment with Dangote's stance, Mohamed Maait, Chairman of the Afreximbank Annual Meetings, stressed the significance of economic integration and the tools required to advance this objective.

The event gathered influential business leaders, government officials, policymakers, and esteemed personalities like former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka, and former industry minister Niyi Adebayo. 

By addressing visa restrictions and promoting intra-continental trade, Africa can unlock its vast resources and investment potential, overcoming challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, debt crisis, and security issues.
