Virtual mentoring programme for lawyers, students underway




Preparations are underway for a virtual mentoring programme for final year law students and young lawyers in Nigeria.

The organiser, Kayode Akinsola, a lawyer, said the programme is part of his giving back to the society, which has given him so much.

Speaking against the backdrop of challenges young lawyers face in the course of their duties, the Project Director, Bimpe Adeoye, disclosed that the virtual programme is scheduled to hold from Monday, October 24 to Friday, November 18, 2022.

According to Adeoye, the programme will equip the participants with the solutions to the challenges junior lawyers face in the line of duty.

Her words: “There are 10 slots for final year law students, 10 for law school students and 10 for young lawyers.”

She stated that young undergraduates of law would not be exempted, but that the selection process would be based on merit.

“He will mentor them on how to target the best law firms for their internships and how to write a better Curriculum Vitae. Corporate commercial aspect of law will also be part of the session,” Abioye said.

The goal of the programme is to raise a section of young minds, who seek applicable knowledge to their business environments through the process of Action Learning and expose them to business solutions in real times, she added.

“The selection process might appear to be rigorous, but it is worth the stress in the end.”

Over the years, Akinsola has assisted individuals and organisations achieve their corporate objectives. The core of his practice is to develop business plans and execute them.

“While focusing on market trends, Akinsola writes company policy manual that regulates the staff activities. he had created business solutions that met and exceeded industry standards.

“A polymath, policy consultant and business lawyer, with decades of experience in consulting, Akinsola has enjoyed patronage from many organisations in Africa and other continents. He is the President of Queens Group Africa, a professional services firm based in Nigeria,” she stated.

Akinsola, an international conference speaker, who has written many books, is a Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants as well as Business Diplomacy.
