A prominent stakeholder within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State, Comrade Yerima Shettima, has officially withdrawn his ambition to contest the Kaduna Central Senatorial District ticket.
The chieftain announced his decision during a media briefing on Sunday, confirming his total alignment with the party's ultimate internal resolutions.
Addressing journalists at a press conference, Shettima explained that his choice to step aside from the high-stakes legislative race followed a period of extensive consultations with key political actors and deep personal reflection.

He explicitly clarified that the action was taken to respect the supremacy and structured consensus mechanisms of the ruling APC regarding the ticket for Kaduna Central.
The former aspirant was quick to debunk any insinuations that his sudden withdrawal from the primary process was triggered by external pressure or political intimidation.
He maintained that the move was entirely strategic, aiming to foster absolute harmony within the state chapter of the party. In his official statement, Shettima noted:
“This decision is not borne out of fear, weakness, or cowardice, but rather from my unwavering commitment to party unity, discipline, and collective progress.
After wide consultations and deep reflection, I have decided to respect the decision of our great party regarding the senatorial contest.”
Reaffirming his loyalty to the party's leadership architecture, Shettima pledged his continued resources and political machinery toward ensuring landslide victories for the APC at all levels in the upcoming general elections.
He urged his extensive network of supporters, associates, and the Capacity Movement group—led by Sani Shehu Sado—to remain calm, maintain the peace, and fully rally behind whichever candidates eventually emerge on the party's platform.
Furthermore, the politician strongly advocated for immediate, genuine reconciliation among any aggrieved members to strengthen internal party cohesion before election day.
He concluded by reiterating his staunch support for the administrations of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani.
