N67 Million Recovered from Bathroom Ceiling as Thai Police Arrest Nigerian Drug Kingpin
In a dramatic night raid on Saturday, Thai police arrested a 46-year-old Nigerian, Nwaiwu Ifeanyi, uncovering 1.5 million baht (over N67 million) hidden inside his bathroom ceiling.
Ifeanyi is alleged to be a kingpin in a cocaine trafficking ring operating within Bangkok’s Silom and nightlife districts.
The Metropolitan Police Bureau tracked the suspect via encrypted chat groups before intercepting him near Silom Soi 1 with 27 grams of cocaine.
The operation also led to the arrest of a Swiss national and two Thai accomplices. Total seizures included a car, foreign currency, and luxury jewelry valued at 400,000 baht.
Investigators revealed that Ifeanyi had lived in Thailand for 17 years using a family visa obtained through a Thai spouse—a marriage police now suspect was a "sham" to provide legal cover for his illicit activities.
This arrest follows a recent crackdown on Nigerian drug syndicates in Thailand, including the case of Ukoma Nuzbech, who was arrested in 2025 for selling cocaine to undercover officers.
