Google Challenges Microsoft with Free ChromeOS Flex Upgrade for Unsupported Windows PCs
As Microsoft moves to end support for Windows 10, Google has stepped in with a "fast, secure, and free" solution for millions of users whose hardware cannot run Windows 11.
Through a partnership with Back Market, Google introduced the ChromeOS Flex USB Kit, designed to transform aging PCs into modern, cloud-based machines.
The $3 reusable USB kits, which provide a guided, non-technical way to "demystify" the switch, have already gone out of stock due to high demand.
However, Google notes that users can still install ChromeOS Flex on their own for free.
This initiative targets the estimated 500 million devices at risk of becoming insecure or obsolete by October, offering a sustainable alternative to buying expensive new hardware.
