Mallorca head coach Jagoba Arrasate has labelled FC Barcelona as the “strongest team in La Liga” ahead of his side’s daunting trip to the Spotify Camp Nou on Saturday.
The Blaugrana are in formidable form, having won their last five matches across all competitions. Arrasate acknowledged their strength while discussing their tactical adjustment to a high defensive line under Hansi Flick.
“They are still the strongest team in La Liga. Football evolves very quickly, and they have corrected things. If you avoid pressure, you create defensive one-on-one situations, we are going to try because it is very easy to say and very difficult to do,” Arrasate said in his pre-match press conference.
Ahead of the challenge, the coach expressed hope that his team could succeed where others have failed. “We are prepared for tomorrow. I want a team with a very clear identity... Matches there feel like they last forever,” he added.
Mallorca head into the fixture boosted by a strong 4-1 victory over Sevilla. Arrasate highlighted its importance: “I think we needed a win like this; it was a step forward in every sense. If we make it a regular occurrence, we’ll do much better.”
He also commented on new arrivals from the winter transfer window, Jan Salas and Zito Luvumbo. “Jan has returned with a lot of enthusiasm... With Zito, he’s the typical disrupter; he’s a player who can make an immediate impact,” Arrasate noted, hoping they can contribute against the league leaders.
