Instead of streaming an entire desktop environment, Cameyo streams only the necessary legacy applications—such as specialized ERP software, AutoCAD, or the desktop version of Excel—allowing them to operate seamlessly alongside modern web apps.
This innovation, known as Virtual App Delivery (VAD), effectively eliminates a major roadblock for companies looking to migrate from Windows to more secure and cost-effective operating systems like ChromeOS. Google positions the combination of Chrome Enterprise Premium with Cameyo as a uniquely secure enterprise solution. “This is the only solution on the market that can secure both web and legacy client-based apps in a browser experience,” Google stated. The platform brings legacy apps into Chrome's protected environment, where advanced security controls like threat detection, URL filtering, and data loss prevention apply equally to both web and virtualized applications.

With the recent introduction of Gemini in Chrome, Google's AI assistant can now "see" and understand what is displayed within applications streamed through Cameyo.
