Terror in Edo: Abducted Catholic Seminarians Seen with Human Skulls Beg for Their Lives in Chilling Video

Abducted Edo Catholic seminarians holding human skulls in kidnappers’ video

Two Catholic seminarians abducted in Edo State have appeared in a chilling video, pleading for their lives as armed kidnappers threaten to kill them. The victims, students of the Immaculate Conception Minor Seminary School in Ivianokpodi, Agenebode, Etsako East Local Government Area, were kidnapped on July 10, 2025, after gunmen attacked the school.

Punch reports that the armed assailants killed a civil defence officer guarding the school before abducting three seminarians. While one was later freed, two teenagers remain in captivity weeks after the incident.

Following the abduction, Edo State Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, deployed tactical teams to track the culprits and rescue the victims. “The operatives will not relent until those behind this reprehensible act are tracked down and made to face the full wrath of the law,” Agbonika said at the time.

However, a disturbing video recently released by the kidnappers shows the two remaining seminarians surrounded by masked, gun-wielding men. In the footage, the boys are seen holding dried human skulls as they beg their parents and the public to pay ransom to secure their release.

“They kill people here. Our abductors have threatened to kill us. Please, send money to them to spare our lives,” one of the captives said in the video.

The spokesperson for the Catholic Diocese of Auchi, Rev. Fr. Peter Egielewa, confirmed the authenticity of the footage. “The video you see of the seminarians holding a human skull is real. We are negotiating with the kidnappers, but they are asking for money which we do not have, and I think it’s out of frustration they did that video,” he explained.

Efforts to get an official police reaction to the video on Thursday were unsuccessful. Meanwhile, the shocking development has heightened fears among the victims’ families, parishioners, and the wider community, with many calling for urgent government intervention to secure the boys’ freedom.
