R&B singer R. Kelly was reportedly hospitalized after suffering an alleged overdose in his North Carolina federal prison, according to new claims filed by his attorney, Beau B. Brindley.

Court filings submitted on Monday allege that a prison officer instructed the embattled musician to take an unusually high dose of his prescribed medication on the night of June 12, 2025.

Kelly allegedly collapsed the next morning after feeling dizzy and weak, losing consciousness while crawling to his cell door.

He was rushed to Duke University Hospital where, according to his lawyer, doctors warned that the dosage he received was dangerously high and potentially fatal. During his two-day stay, Kelly was also diagnosed with severe blood clots in his lungs and legs.

Brindley further alleged that the singer was removed from the hospital against medical advice and returned to solitary confinement without undergoing necessary surgery.

Kelly’s legal team now seeks a temporary release to home confinement, claiming that his life is at risk without proper medical attention. “This situation is life-threatening, and the institution is failing to provide adequate care,” said Brindley.

Prosecutors dismissed the claims as manipulative tactics. They noted the case was filed in a court lacking jurisdiction and accused Kelly of seeking public sympathy to escape prison.

This incident follows previous claims of a murder plot against Kelly, allegedly involving prison gang members. The singer is serving a 30-year sentence for racketeering and sex trafficking convictions, and he continues to maintain his innocence, insisting he’s being targeted behind bars.
