Missing Edo Girl Found Dead in Shallow Grave—Shocking Confession from Boyfriend

Edo police arrest suspect for murder of missing 21-year-old woman

The Edo State Police Command has arrested 31-year-old Joshua Osaigbovo for the alleged murder of 21-year-old Osato Festus Edogiaweria, whose decomposing body was discovered in a shallow grave.

This development followed a missing person report filed on April 25, 2025, by Osato’s mother, Mrs. Ojo, at the Aduwawa Division. The case was immediately transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further inquiry.

In a statement issued by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Moses Yamu, on X.com, the suspect reportedly confessed after intense interrogation. “The suspect admitted to inviting the victim to his residence at Iyanomon community, where an altercation broke out, and she fatally hit her head during the fight,” Yamu stated.

The suspect further admitted to transporting her lifeless body in a wheelbarrow to a nearby bush, where he buried her in a shallow grave just meters from his home. The police said Osaigbovo later led them to the grave site, confirming his confession.

The shocking revelation has stirred outrage across Edo State as citizens demand justice for the young woman whose life was tragically cut short.

Authorities confirmed that Osaigbovo would face criminal charges once investigations conclude. “We assure the public that justice will be served in this case,” the police added.

The tragic end of Osato’s life has once again brought attention to the rising cases of domestic violence and the dangers of unmonitored personal relationships.
