Shocking! Kidnappers Busted in Anambra After Luring Victims With Fake Land Sales

Anambra police arrest kidnappers posing as land sellers in Dunukofia LGA

In a major breakthrough, police operatives from the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) have arrested two notorious kidnappers who posed as real estate agents to trap unsuspecting victims. The arrest was made in the early hours of June 25, 2025, in Umudioka, Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State.

According to a statement from Anambra Police spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga, the suspects, identified as Onele Solomon (aka Federal) and Simeon Chidera (aka Chaplet), both aged 23, are members of a kidnapping and armed robbery syndicate that has been terrorizing the region.

“The two suspects, on May 31, 2025, abducted a victim under the pretense of selling land. They robbed him, inflicted life-threatening machete wounds, and held him in a hideout while demanding ransom,” Ikenga revealed.

Fortunately, the victim managed to escape from their den and reported the incident to authorities, who quickly launched a tactical operation. The suspects are now in police custody, while additional efforts are ongoing to track down other gang members still at large.

Police investigations uncovered that the gang specializes in luring victims with fake land deals, only to kidnap, rob, and torture them before demanding ransom from relatives.

The Anambra Police Command has activated an onslaught operation to arrest the remaining members of the criminal network and dismantle their hideouts. Residents are urged to be cautious and verify the authenticity of property transactions.

This arrest highlights the growing sophistication of criminal tactics in Anambra and the state’s efforts to clamp down on kidnappers and armed gangs.
