This year's gala celebrates Black dandyism and its profound influence on fashion, drawing inspiration from Monica L. Miller's seminal work, Slaves to Fashion. The accompanying exhibition delves into the significance of sartorial elegance in shaping Black identities across the Atlantic diaspora.

The dress code, aptly titled "Tailored for You," encourages attendees to present personalized interpretations of menswear, emphasizing individuality and cultural expression.

Co-chaired by luminaries such as Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams, and Anna Wintour, the event also named LeBron James as an honorary co-chair. However, James withdrew due to a knee injury sustained during the NBA playoffs, with his wife, Savannah James, attending in his stead.

The red carpet showcased a fusion of tradition and innovation. Rihanna made a much-anticipated return, donning a bespoke ensemble that paid homage to Black fashion heritage. Queer icons like Doechii and Cynthia Erivo embraced the theme with avant-garde flair, highlighting the inclusive spirit of the gala.
