Renowned Nigerian actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has announced her intention to re-enter the political arena, expressing her commitment to contest again in future elections. Akindele, who served as the running mate to Abdulazeez Adediran, the Lagos State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2023, faced defeat against Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Following the loss, she removed all politically related posts from her social media platforms.

Despite the setback, Akindele remains undeterred. She stated, “I need to support. I need to give back. That’s why I went into politics… I’m glad that I went into politics. And ask me if I am going to do it again? Oh, yes.”
