In a shocking incident that has rocked the Zazzau Emirate, 58-year-old Abubakar Aminu, known as Galadima, has been arrested by the Kaduna State Police Command for allegedly murdering his younger brother, Sani Yusuf, in Zaria.
Both men are members of the royal lineage of the late Iyan Zazzau. The altercation reportedly began on April 4, 2025, when Yusuf accused Aminu of stealing ₦15,000.
In a fit of rage, Aminu allegedly assaulted his brother, repeatedly smashing his head against a wall until he lost consciousness. Witnesses reported seeing blood flowing from Yusuf’s nose and mouth.
Attempting to cover up the incident, Aminu is said to have covered Yusuf's face with a wrapper, handed over his phone to other family members claiming he was sleeping, and fled the scene.
Yusuf was later found in a pool of blood and rushed to a private clinic, which refused treatment. He was then taken to Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital in Shika, where he died on April 10, 2025.
The suspect was apprehended on the same day and is currently in custody. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Kaduna for further investigation.
